With NBA Draft less than a week away, Celtics' targets are anyone's guess

With the 2011 NBA draft less than a week away, Celtics nation will have to wait just a little longer to find out what the team will do with its two draft picks.

When their playoff run ended five weeks ago, some blamed injuries, last-minute trades and just plain old age. There?s no doubt they need some young legs: Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Jermaine O?Neal and Paul Pierce are on their 15th, 14th, 13th and 12th years in the league, respectively. The Celtics will likely look for a big man to fill the role of a true center and a wingman to relieve Rondo or even play alongside him. But with the 25th and 55th picks overall, the Celtics aren?t banking on a long-term rotation player.

?Historically, the odds of a No. 25 draft pick breaking into a rotation is about 6 percent,? said Celtics president Danny Ainge via Twitter.

So let?s take a look at what is being reported about the Celtics' draft prospects:

Sports Illustrated?s Sam Amick has Reggie Jackson as the Celtics' first pick. He isn?t a pure point guard, but his athleticism and wingspan are certainly impressive.

In a Celtics Blog poll 32 percent of people voted Jeremy Tyler as the big man they would like to see the Celtics get.

The power forward, known for his hot head, was considered one of the country?s top high school players before opting for professional play in Israel and Japan. According to an article in the Boston Globe he?ll have had 13 showcases with different teams prior to the draft. Amick has him going to the Spurs at pick 29.

Jimmy Butler, Travis Leslie, Nikola Vucevic and Jordan Williams were selected by ESPN Stats and Info researchers Peter Newmann and Dean Oliver as players who could potentially have an immediate impact with any NBA team. These four players could go late first-round or second round, but it?s Vucevic and Williams who are the big men the Celtics might be looking for. Williams has great size and strength and is a monster rebounder, while Vucevic has a respectable presence on defense and a good mid-range jumper on offense.

WEEI picked Justin Harper, the former Richmond forward, as a potential Celtic based on his size and shooting range. At 6-10, 220 lbs. Harper moves surprisingly well for a big man, although he?ll have to use his size to be more physical down low.

With the unpredictability of which players teams will select or who will be available for their draft pick, it's tough to say who will go where.

So what do you think? Who will the Celtics pick up in the 2011 draft?
