Communications company holds ceremony at new call center in Myrtle

MYRTLE BEACH -- Frontier Communications held a ribbon cutting ceremony today at its new call center in Myrtle Beach, nearly five months after the company announced it would renovate its building on Lumber Street in Myrtle Beach to house the call center and create 110 jobs.

Frontier, which provides telephone, broadband and other services in the Myrtle Beach area, hired 116 people to work at the new 13,000-square-foot facility, located on the third floor in the Frontier building at 919 Lumber Street, officials said.

The center includes 150 new computers and workstations, meeting spaces, break room and a ?quiet room? where employees can read, watch TV or relax during breaks, according to officials with Frontier and the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corp.

?We are proud to have Frontier as part of the community,? Doug Wendel, EDC?s executive committee chairman, said during the ceremony.
