The four new openings will give BBL a total of 12 Recovery Sports Grills.?
BBL Hospitality is opening four more Recovery Sports Grill bar/restaurants, including one at Ellsworth Commons in Malta, New York, near the $4.6 billion GlobalFoundries computer chip plant.
Besides Malta in Saratoga County, BBL is opening sports-themed restaurants this year in Guilderland, Queensbury and West Charleston, Virginia, said Carrie Hillenbrandt, director of sales and marketing.
Development costs range from $1 million to $1.8 million each.
The openings will give Albany-based BBL a total of 12 Recovery Sports Grills. The company, part of BBL Construction Services LLC?
, also owns or operates 14 hotels. Each restaurant has 30 to 35 full- and part-time employees.
The 5,500-square-foot Malta location will open in early September on the first floor of Ellsworth Commons, a large, mixed-use development just north of the roundabout at Routes 9 and 67.
?It?s an under-served market,? Hillenbrandt said. ?There?s a lot of enthusiasm around sports, and of course a lot of population growth in that area. With GlobalFoundries, I think we?ll see a really nice lunch crowd.?
The $53 million Ellsworth Commons towers over other buildings in the heart of Malta, a rural town that is gradually being transformed by the chip fab and other development.
The retail spaces have been slow to fill since Ellsworth opened last fall, but the 312 luxury apartments on the upper floors are drawing tenants.
The other new Recovery Sports Grills will be located in Guilderland at Hamilton Square (formerly 20 Mall) on Western Avenue: on upper Glen Street in Queensbury; and at a BBL-owned hotel in downtown Charleston, West Virginia.
